Nurturing Potential Through Music

Welcome to Music Therapy Birmingham, where we specialise in providing music therapy for children and young people. Our mission is to create a safe, supportive space for each client to explore, express, and grow through the power of music. We believe in a personalised, client-centred approach, using evidence-based methods to support emotional, social, and developmental needs.

What is Music Therapy?

Music therapy is a therapeutic practice led by a registered HCPC Music Therapist, using music to achieve non-musical goals such as improved communication, emotional expression, and self-confidence. Through a variety of creative, music-centered activities—such as singing, instrument play, lyric analysis, and improvisation—music therapy is tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual. Sessions are designed to provide a supportive, engaging environment where clients can explore and express themselves freely, fostering growth and well-being.

  • Music provides a safe outlet for processing complex feelings and building emotional awareness.

  • Collaborative music-making promotes communication, listening, and social interaction.

  • Participating in music activities fosters a sense of achievement and self-worth.

  • Rhythmic activities improve concentration, impulse control, and motor skills.

  • Music therapy encourages creativity, self-discovery, and supports overall mental health.

Benefits of Music Therapy?

Where Do Our Sessions Take Place?

At Music Therapy Birmingham, we primarily offer individual music therapy sessions based in our Harborne studio. For clients who prefer sessions in a familiar setting, we also provide in-home options with a small mileage fee for travel. Additionally, we offer group sessions at certain times, providing opportunities for shared musical experiences and social interaction. Each session is customised to foster growth and connection in a safe, supportive environment.
